The Woodlands curriculum is derived from curation within the Cabot Learning Federation but has been adapted and made specific to meet the needs of the children at Woodlands Academy. We have ensured the curriculum is progressive, well sequenced, maintains high expectations on the children and that there is a good balance between disciplinary (knowledge) and substantive (skills) foci.
Please see our curriculum overview below for the 2024/25 academic year for Nursery, Reception and Years 1-6.
Please note: There will be some adaptions to the Reception plan over time as the children will become interested in the Year 1 children’s learning alongside their own curriculum. One of the key benefits of the Early Years curriculum is that we follow the children’s interests and ideas, so being with Year 1 will extend their views and thoughts even further!

Please note that we have made some conscious decisions to swap some units across year groups and to roll out elements of the curriculum over time to ensure children aren’t missing key topics and units, and to help staff wellbeing. Please look at our school overviews for the topics we are covering and when.
